Who this is for
Brands from the EU, UK, US, UAE and Turkey that want a smaller, closer alternative to large Asian suppliers, and need someone on the ground who understands the garment, not just the logistics.
Kyrgyzstan's garment sector is real and concentrated around Bishkek. In 2024 light industry output reached 20.5 billion som, up 15% on 2023; clothing made up 85% of it, and about 130,000 people worked in the sector (AKIpress, June 2025). Most factories sew for Russia and Kazakhstan. When Kyrgyz factories first met European buyers, the buyers valued small orders and faster delivery than many Asian competitors, and raised social compliance before quality and price (Knitting Industry, 2017).
That last point still matters. Many workshops are small and have never been audited for a Western buyer. A partner who knows which ones can meet your requirements saves you weeks.
Who I am
Irina Tsoi, Bishkek. Twenty years in the garment industry as a fashion designer and pattern maker: product development, patterns, construction, materials, sewing technology, every production stage, and quality control. Three years selling my own clothing on Wildberries, so I know what returns look like when the fit is wrong.
Communication: in Russian; English via written messages. I work with English-speaking clients through email and messengers, with translation. Every decision, comment and report is in writing.
What I do
- Product preparation. Patterns, grading to your size chart, and a tech pack a Bishkek factory will actually follow: flat sketch, measurement chart with tolerances, bill of materials, labelling and packing.
- Factory sourcing. I shortlist 2–3 factories that fit your product and quantity, visit them, and report with photos, capacity, conditions and risks.
- Sampling. Sample and pre-production sample in the same factory, fit review, pattern corrections. Bulk does not start until you approve the PP sample.
- Production control. Visits during cutting and sewing, photo and video reports, issues solved with the factory in Russian on the spot.
- Final inspection. Measurements against your chart, workmanship, labels and packing, with a written report before goods leave.
- Shipment handover. Packing to your requirements and handover to your forwarder with the batch documents.
How we work
- Brief. You send sketches, a sample or references, quantities and target market. I reply with a plan: stages, timeline, estimated factory and fabric budget, and my fee.
- Patterns and tech pack. You receive the files. They are yours: you can take them to any factory.
- Factory. You get the shortlist report and sign directly with the factory. I draft the terms that protect you: approved sample as standard, tolerances, rework at the factory's cost, part of the payment held until inspection.
- Sample and PP sample. Photos and video on a model, my comments, corrected patterns.
- Bulk. Reports after each visit.
- Final inspection and shipment.
Why work with an independent partner
| Agent / buyer | Visiting yourself | Technical partner | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Finds a factory | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Patterns and tech pack | Usually no | No | Yes |
| Fit and sample review | Rarely | Once | Every stage |
| Present during bulk | Sometimes | No | Yes |
| Margin on factory price | Often | No | No |
Factory and fabric contracts are yours. You see the real cost per unit, and my interest is the quality of the run, not the factory's price.
Things to know before you start
- Fabric. Around 80% of fabric used in Kyrgyzstan comes from China (Kaktus.media, Sept 2025). If you rely on a trade preference, check origin rules with your customs broker before you plan around them. Kyrgyzstan has been a beneficiary of the EU's GSP+ scheme since January 2016 (GSP Hub), but whether a specific garment qualifies is a question for your broker.
- Compliance. If you need a social audit (BSCI, SMETA or similar), say so in the brief. It narrows the factory list.
- Sizing. Local factories often work to Russian size standards. Your size chart and tolerances go into the tech pack so the run matches your market.
- Timelines. I plan with buffers. I don't promise customs, freight or certification timelines, because I don't control them.
Pricing
- Diagnosis of your product or project: $150.
- Pattern for one style: from $450.
- Tech pack: $450.
- Factory sourcing and check in Bishkek: $650.
- Final inspection: $350 per visit.
- "Batch" package (preparation and control of one production run): $2,400.
- Turnkey production management: 8–12% of the production value, from $1,500.
The percentage is calculated on your contracts with the factory and fabric supplier. Payment is by card via Stripe. Production, fabric, freight, duties and testing are paid by you directly to those providers. All prices are on the pricing page.
I guarantee my own work: if patterns or a tech pack don't match what we agreed, I fix them free of charge. I don't promise sales. I remove the causes of defects and fit problems that sit in the garment and in the factory contract.
